# Modify abstain so that it does not count toward quorum

Well that is a very different thing from abstain.

I’d like to argue that abstain does not even cover the legal arguments that some people here have been making because abstention does affect outcomes in our current system .

Validators who can’t vote just can’t vote, that’s really the end of it.
