Whitelist wallet for the deployment of NFT Marketplace, LST Platform, and DEX by BackBone Labs

This proposal requests Cosmos Hub community approval to whitelist the following wallet for smart contract deployment by BackBone Labs:

Deployment Wallet
[cosmos1js483tqdkcpp8yg6u648vt4a5wzq4gv86p26cn5xx76esxqrvreqk6mw8h]

(daodao.zone/dao/cosmos1js483tqdkcpp8yg6u648vt4a5wzq4gv86p26cn5xx76esxqrvreqk6mw8h/home)

We seek permission to deploy our suite of products, including:

  • A capital-efficient NFT marketplace

  • A liquid staking platform for bATOM

  • A decentralized exchange (DEX)

BackBone Labs is asking for deployment access—nothing more. No funding, no grants, no emissions. We come to contribute.

About BackBone Labs
BackBone Labs is a Cosmos-native infrastructure team operating across Osmosis, Injective, Terra, Dungeon, and Chihuahua. Our work fuses DeFi primitives with NFT infrastructure to create composable systems governed by their communities.

Our active products include:

The GraveDigger – Liquid staking platform with bASSET issuance.

The Necropolis – A capital-efficient NFT marketplace where idle assets are activated.

SkeletonSwap – A DEX optimized for low-fee, permissionless trading of ecosystem-native tokens.

We don’t just launch contracts—we maintain, govern, and evolve them in tandem with our communities.

Proposal Details
We request the ability to deploy smart contracts on the Cosmos Hub via the above multi-sig for the following systems:

NFT Marketplace
Built to support bASSET-based listings, vaults, and capital-efficient holding strategies.

bATOM Liquid Staking Platform
Enables users to stake ATOM and receive bATOM—a composable, yield-bearing representation usable across DeFi and NFT layers.

SkeletonSwap DEX
A lightweight AMM focused on Cosmos-native assets and bASSET pairings, designed for low slippage and maximal composability.

All contracts are open-source, audited, and community-aligned.

Partnership: Ark Protocol x HUBbits
BackBone Labs is partnering with Ark Protocol for the launch of HUBbits , the first NFT collection native to the Cosmos Hub. Our marketplace—The Necropolis —will serve as the official secondary venue for HUBbit trading, enabling multichain access and seamless liquidity.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to onboarding real culture to the Cosmos Hub and providing tools that make interchain functionality usable from day one.

Why the Cosmos Hub?
The Hub has always been a center of gravity. But the time has come to evolve from a coordination layer into an execution layer—one with live applications, composability, and culture.

We aren’t asking for emissions or grants. We may, in the future, explore delegation or LP partnerships, but this proposal is about code—not capital. About contribution, not consumption.

Next Steps
Upon positive signaling:

  • Launch bATOM and integrate it across our stack
  • Open up the marketplace and DEX to Hub-native assets and NFTs
  • Operate transparently via our DAO and maintain open contributor channels

Conclusion
This is an offer to activate the Cosmos Hub. With zero cost to the community, BackBone Labs brings a multichain-ready, capital-efficient application layer backed by real deployments and community governance.

Let’s bring life to the Hub—not just transactions.

Gm fam! I’m the founder of Ark Protocol. We’ve launched our InterChain Launchpad on the Hub. Our HUBbits PFPs will be the first-ever genesis collection there - coming end of May. We’re also merging Asteroid Protocol - including its inscription-based marketplace (alrdy on the Hub!) - into Ark.

Ark and BackBone Labs believe in diversity and best-in-class utility on the Hub. We’re stronger together, not competing!

BBL backed us, Ark, early - true LUNAtics solidarity! Since then, projects like pixeLions, Mad Scientists, NCoS, Architects, Sloths, Bad Kids, Galactic Mining Club, and Galactic Syndicate have all benefited from our IBC-enabled, and now $ATOM-powered NFTs.

The Cosmos Hub is the place. With more exciting launches - like Stargaze - on the horizon, let’s open the floodgates and write the next chapter of the AEZ together! :rocket::sparkles:

I can’t find a reason why to be opposed to this. Not asking for money, contributing? Yes.

You are correct.

We do not seek funding, we seek collaboration and synergy.

A strong ATOM = a strong Cosmos

Working with Backbone Labs this past while, I’ve seen how they draw together many chains and communities and help them all grow symbiotically. Cosmos Hub could really use their community building powers.

Would love to see a $bAtom NFTfi collection. Personally, I hope the $SOUL token launches on Cosmos Hub for a great display of $Atom alignment.

But an NFT marketplace, liquid staking token integrated into the NFTs, and a dex, all with existing and active community seems like a no-brainer to build along side all the new projects being attracted to the Hub.

Can we have the link from the audits?

Great team building in the Cosmos system. Started with Terra, Osmosis, Injective, and others. Cosmos needs a marketplace. This would be a great place to start.

Given the hub will be removing CosmWasm, do you have a plan to switch from CW to EVM for all your deployments/contracts?

Seems silly to deploy anything on the hub using CW when its going to be removed.

Hello Mr-T , one question, maybe you could share more detail. Considering backboneLab is coming to the hub with an already existing brand (protocol, marketplace app..etc) , what’s the plan in regards of the merging of Ark protocol and Asteroid platform ?

Knowing Stargaze may be coming to the Hub, BBL coming to the Hub, does Asteroid would be a third NFT marketplace working in parrallese with the two others ? Or is it just a plan to merge Ark protocol UI into Asteroid ? Or merge the 3 together ? (BBL + ARK/Asteroid)

tl;dr: Let’s be business- and not tech-driven ;). Though CosmWasm will cease to exist on the Hub, it will continue on other chains as well. Costs for builders with cross-chain solutions will increase and need to plan accordingly.

Good point. Longterm the Hub plans transitioning to EVM. So far we, Ark, and DAODAO has cw contracts deployed on the Hub. Stargaze also plans deploying their cw contracts here as well.

First of all: most utlities are build on cw contracts. Imho it is a “business-driven cw contracts vs technical-driven EVM” discussion for now. The Hub’s bet on EVM is clearly business driven - but it is still a bet rn.

There is a transition needed until then, imho cw wont go anytime soon. Nevertheless all builders affiliated with the Hub needs to address this soon (note: rn a group of chains, led by Neutron, go double-down on cw, so it looks like there will be 2 parties at Cosmos: EVM- and CW-supporting chains). Noam plans to chat with Ark and DAODAO talking about cw: https://x.com/noamwithveto/status/1921897744509051044

Evmos has failed to succeed. The Hub has forked it and we’ll see whether it succeeds yes (imho YES).

Migrating NFTs wont be a big deal: cw721 contracts are based on erc721.

On a larger context, non-tech design view: luckily IBC is VM agnostic, allowing fungible and non-fungible tokens to work on any EVM or CW-based Cosmos chain.

Last but not least: in my very humble opinion (and I’m not deep down that level), ideally blockchains by design of storing onchain data should be VM-agnostic as well. In this case wen switching to another VM, those data would be at least accessible.

Since Vitalik is pushing to replace EVM with RISC-V, lemme rephrase your initial question:

Given that Vitalik will be removing EVM, does Cosmos has a plan to switch from CW to EVM to RISK-V for all deployments/contracts?

Asteroid’s Marketplace is the first and yet only marketplace on the Hub - rn it supports only inscription-based collections. But behind the scenes we are working on extending it, for including both inscriptions and NFTs. Also inscriptions will be able to go interchain as well. We also plan providing utilities for passportholders. Some thoughts here: https://x.com/MrTsCode/status/1922948867638636952

Besides: Ark is neutral like Switzerland and both, Stargaze and BBL, are our partners. There there’s some overlap, imho all 3 of us differs greatly in many ways. Why should the Cosmos bet just on one solution, wen they can onboard all of 'em :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:?

Yes, we have plans to rewrite everything in solidity.

We are aware of the hubs directions and have planned accordingly.

I think this is a great idea, backbone labs has faced huge challenges and they continue to build. All they are asking for is support from the community. This has my vote for sure!!!
