I’ve been working to bring my old Atom Market build online and was thinking I’ll be damned if I just launch a marketplace just as boring as all the rest. So, what I have done, and still doing, is create something that hasn’t been done before.
I built Starbase, the Star Base System @ https://starbase.sbs. Most of the site will explain itself with a visit and a few clicks because I am aiming for ease of use. It’s a buy and sell pretty much anything platform that Commanders (sellers) can go in and build their own basic Starbase (store) for free to sell stuff and payment settles exclusively in ATOM. Like the Starbase, listing is free, too and the platform gets a 2.5% fee for what gets sold.
To see the asset increase in value and hub pool grow, a full 75% of the sales fee the platform generates will transfer to the Cosmos Hub Community Pool. The remaining 25% will hit the Treasury for some other cool stuff I have in mind. Speaking of cool stuff, I’m building Laser Battles for the Starbases to have fights with and site visitors and buyers can be picked by and ask to join in. If someone has a Starbase, they are either gonna fight or just get their ass blasted. Buyers and site visitors have to be careful about coordinated attacks because yeah, they’ll have laser guns alright but Commanders will have laser cannons so well yeah, y’all can see that ganging up won’t turn out well for some fighters.
I also built a browser extension that is sync’d to the website in case there’s an attack or invitation to join a battle to get notifications. There will be a leaderboard of course for battle stats, and some of that 25% the platform gets will be passed around to the Top 5 Starbases for the Commanders to pass around. The extension also has some other cool functions, too.
For those wanting to run under their own custom domain, there’s a small monthly and yearly option for that and I created a Cloudflare worker that automates the process. I’ll keep that for the keep on keeping on stuff and improvements, maybe a 6 pack of Heineken here n there.
As far as rules go, if it’s legal to buy n sell, I’ll file it under mind my own business and let everyone else mind theirs. If a seller stiffs a buyer, they’ll get kicked to the curb, too. Just saying.
Anyway, if anyone wants to go open a Starbase and let me know what needs fixed, that’d be great. For clarity, that 2.5% sales fee is a lock and will not jump. Plus, I added my orderbook for trading. Thanks!
