This proposal suggests building a new application-specific blockchain in the Cosmos ecosystem, with AOTM as the native and exclusive gas token for all on-chain transactions

Project Background

This proposal suggests building a new application-specific blockchain in the Cosmos ecosystem, with AOTM as the native and exclusive gas token for all on-chain transactions.

Core Suggestions

- Develop the blockchain based on Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus.

- Use AOTM as the sole gas token for transactions, smart contracts and governance operations.

- Support IBC cross-chain interoperability.

- Adopt a token economy model that includes staking, slashing and gas burning.

Recommended Team Structure

- Cosmos SDK & Core Development Team

- Consensus & Network Security Team

- Token Economics & Gas Mechanism Design Team

- IBC & Ecosystem Integration Team

- Validator & Community Governance Team

Value to the Cosmos Ecosystem

- Enrich the diversity of Cosmos application chains.

- Innovate the gas fee and token economy model.

- Bring in new users, validators and cross-chain activities.

- Enhance IBC liquidity and ecosystem vitality.

Implementation Roadmap

1. Project approval and scheme finalization.

2. Testnet development and internal testing.

3. Validator recruitment and security audit.

4. Mainnet launch and IBC connection.

5. Ecosystem expansion and decentralized governance.

I appreciate the intention behind this proposal — giving ATOM more utility as a gas token is a worthy goal. However, the core issue is that this describes an “application-specific blockchain” without ever mentioning what the application actually is.

What we have here is a list of generic Cosmos SDK components (Tendermint, IBC, staking/slashing/burn) that could describe virtually any chain in the ecosystem. There’s no identified problem, no target use case, and no clear value proposition that would attract users or developers.

The roadmap is equally generic — it reads like a default blockchain launch template rather than a concrete plan.

To make this proposal viable, it would need at minimum:

- A specific use case the chain is optimized for (DeFi, gaming, social, etc.)

- A clear explanation of why this requires a new chain rather than deploying on an existing one

- A concrete mechanism showing how this drives sustainable demand for ATOM

Without these, this isn’t really a proposal yet — it’s a skeleton waiting for a purpose.
