So yesterday I said I’m building ATOM Market and I was asking for no money. This will stay the case, and if I can get some support from the Cosmos team with advertising or something (retweets) I’d be happy to economically align it with ATOM’s interests such as burning all fees.
But, here’s another idea. I’ve been working on getting Juno Juicer working. I’ve identified the old contract address, setup a relayer, and got the deposit feature working on the FE. Over the next couple of weeks in my spare time I’ll get the withdrawal function working then release the code open source.
I think this would be another great app for the Hub. It would need a decent amount of legit work to port this over to the Hub, so this is something where I would request funding to work on. Same as with ATOM Market, I would burn all fees (good for legal reasons too). Then, the FE gets dockerized so anyone can use it locally or spin it up on Akash.
Would love to hear feedback if this would be something the community would be interested in funding. @Mag
So the way I currently designed it (I was on team a couple years ago) is to take a 1% fee (10 JUNO in this instance). However, there are a couple things that make me feel weird about that going forward:
I legit don’t want to profit from unethical transactions
I think it produces greater intra-network effects by burning $ATOM with use
I would gladly accept your donation to follow through on this work, but thought it might make everyone more comfortable having established milestones for funding.
If you are personally interested, I could hardcode an address in your control as the fee recipient in exchange for the donation (we could set milestones independently for the donation then). So then it’s like an investment.
Finish Juno frontend update by end of February so there’s a working example
Port over smart-contract by end of March
Update Cosmos front end by end of April
3a. Have docker image available for use on Akash/personal machine
3b. Have publicly hittable version hosted on Njalla VPS
Timeline would be subject to update depending on timeline of permissionless CosmWasm. Maybe everyone would be fine with permissioned deployment though. Just would make testing more cumbersome since an error couldn’t just have FE point to new contract (immediately). Point being timeline could probably be moved up or back depending on when permissionless cosmwasm launches.
For funds for everything, I would say somewhere around 3k $ATOM would be what I was going to ask from community pool.
Edit These milestones would in reality be worked concurrently, but these would just be the drop-dead deliverable dates.
Wish I could get you the 3k but you have my vote, and If you need anything, please let me know. Because really I could probably get you the 3K atoms, I just don’t know if they would be mine or what. Let’s put something on the Hub that used to be so controversial that it scared me. Let’s put it directly on the Hub. Immutably.
The only world where it doesn’t make sense is the one where Penumbra kinda does the same thing – but Penumbra isn’t on the hub.
Also, the price is right.
@Mag fyi, I’m really very supportive of using the community pool for stuff like this.
He is asking 3000 atoms, hard to lose.
Over on Osmosis, I helped someone to make a gov prop for $10,000.
AFAIK, Osmosis got value out of it, and the task was delivered for much cheaper than it could have been otherwise. @JohnnyWyles sir do you care to comment your frank thoughts on how the gov funding for that conference went? I did not follow up in detail.
Cool, if you’re for sure interested in contributing we can link up to discuss before I put the prop together. No worries if you just want to wait and see too
